BNB Chain announced a new layer-1 network aimed at supporting high-frequency trading and AI agents on its platform. The project targets a public testnet launch at the end of 2026, followed by a planned mainnet launch in early 2027. The roadmap highlights performance targets, specifically transaction preconfirmations under 50 milliseconds and network throughput above 100,000 transactions per second, stated as primary design goals.
The technical roadmap sets targets for sub-second block finality, transaction preconfirmations under 50 milliseconds, and throughput above 100,000 transactions per second. In the first half of 2026, block times improved from 750 milliseconds to about 450 milliseconds and throughput increased from roughly 2,800 transactions per second to about 5,200 transactions per second. The new layer-1 network will run alongside the existing BNB Chain ecosystem rather than replace it.
Execution-layer innovations in the roadmap include just-in-time compilation and strength reduction to optimize smart contracts at the execution engine level. The plan also removes the public mempool and streams transactions directly to the block leader as a performance measure. Blockspace is planned to be reserved for oracles, liquidations and cross-chain bridges, alongside privacy, account abstraction, gas sponsorship, transaction batching, scheduled execution and passkey signing. The roadmap enumerates additional execution and middleware features alongside these performance changes.
